How to's

It's shower time!

5 things you should be doing in your shower right now for healthier hair! It’s second nature to us now, we could probably do it blindfolded, what am I talking about, taking a shower! Most of the time we are in and out  of the shower and not even remembering what just happened!? What I do know is like most things, sometimes you need to shake things up to get different results. So here are some of the things that can start doing now to boost growth, reduce breakage and promote overall hair health and shine!

CHANGE YOUR WASHING ROUTINE

Washing your hair every single day can really dry it out! Why? Because you're washing away the oils your scalp produces to keep your hair shiny and healthy. On the other hand, daily washing can lead to overly oily hair since stripping your scalp of its oils causes it to overcompensate for the loss. Instead, try washing just 3-4 times a week to give your hair a break.

USE THE RIGHT CONDITIONER

Know what to look for and what to avoid when it comes to your shampoo and conditioner. Keep in mind your hair has different needs in the cooler weather than in the summer months. And, it's also great to bear in mind that too much heat—anytime of the year—can be dangerous.

GIVE YOURSELF DEEP CONDITIONING OIL TREATMENTS

Once every few weeks, massage olive or almond oil into your hair from the roots to the tips and cover with a shower cap. Leave it on for at least two hours or overnight, then rinse in cool water before shampooing as usual. Your hair will be left shiny and soft!

GET A SCALP MASSAGE

Having a healthy scalp is very important in the winter particularly at a time when you may be adding more oils and conditioners, which can mean more buildup and flaky scalps. Avoid products with lots of build up, and get an occasional scalp massage to get the blood flowing!

EAT THE RIGHT FOODS

Even though this is not something you'd do in the shower it's equally as important. Did you know that salmon is laced with omega-3 fatty acids that promote hair growth? And, foods like nuts, eggs and chickpeas are loaded with protein, iron, zinc and biotin that promote healthy hair.
